Munich in Germany

Posted by clariceg on Saturday, February 13, 2010 , under , , | comments (1)

Munich (München) is the capital city of Bavaria, Germany. The city's motto is "München mag Dich" (Munich Loves You). Before 2006, it was "Weltstadt mit Herz" (Cosmopolitan city with a heart). Its native name, München, is derived from the Old German word Mönche, meaning "monks" because the founder of the city are monks.

Munich is one of the most visited places in Germany because of the different buildings and infrastructures in there. And would definitely be one of the places one I want to visit if I am given the chance to go to Germany. I love to know more about Germany but just seeing their alphabet and hearing their language turns me off. I really find it difficult to understand!!
Hey! Wait… here’s more about Munich.

Munich is not the only location within Bavaria known as "München". Three such locations exist: the one which is known as "Munich"; another which is northeast of the city of Nuremberg, and also Hutthurm, a town north of the city of Passau.

Spain: Flamenco Dance

Posted by clariceg on Sunday, January 31, 2010 , under , , | comments (0)

I definitely don’t like dancing… before. Now, I am into it! But not that hip-hop or modern dance just like what the Jabawockeez does. I am into dancing when it is Flamenco dance.

Flamenco dance actually originated in Spain. Flamenco is a style of music from the Andalusians (Spain natives). Today, Flamenco is often danced at the ballroom and is considered one of the social dances. There is one easy step that is never missing when dancing Flamenco… clapping. When you dance flamenco, most of the times you clap your hands together with the tune of the song. Also, the costumes they wear during dancing are really fabulous and often red in color.

It is never easy to learn at first but is worth practicing.

Cook Islands: 15 islands at the heart of the South Pacific

Posted by clariceg on , under , , , | comments (0)

During summer, a lot of people go to resorts for vacation. But isn’t it a hassle if there are a lot of people or should I say, a lot of crowd also having a vacation with you?! Every summer, crowded beach resorts are the common scene. But hey! I knew a place where there is no crowding during summer vacation.

Have you heard of The Cook Islands?! It is a group of about 15 islands located at the heart of the South Pacific and is occupied by only 13, 200 inhabitants. The Polynesians (people of Cook Islands) are very friendly and accommodating.

Despite some 100,000 visitors a year to the capital island, Rarotonga, the Cook Islands are largely unspoiled by tourism. They offer a rare opportunity for people from the cities of the world to experience a different type of vacation. And there are no high-rise hotels, only four beach buggies and very little hype.

See?! This is very ideal for travelers seeking more than the usual clichés associated with the height of summer vacation; each island has its unique qualities and offers the visitor a special experience.

Thailand: A great country

Thailand is really a great country. It is going to celebrate 'Bangkok Motorbike Festival 2010' on the 28th to 31st of January at Central World, the capital’s newest mega mall. They reckon over 150,000 bike enthusiasts will tour the show, plus thousands of consumers attracted by the flashy machines lined up on the mall’s catwalks. And among the leaders on display will be Harley-Davidson, Triumph, Ducati, BMW, Sachs, Can-Am, Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki representing road luxury, touring, track racing and off road riding. Hope I can join this event! It is really enjoying.

Old walled city

There is a place at Croatia which I like the most. It was full of history and is really a giant artifact. It is the old walled city of Dubrovnik. This place is really awesome. Here, you will find objects and old writings telling story about Croatia's history. For people like me who is dreaming to be an archaeologist, this is a good place to start off.

An archaeologist is someone who studies people and what they did in the past. It is just like history. Archaeology is interesting. You'll discover many information regarding a certain study.

A very nice country

Argentina is a very nice country. One place in it that you will absolutely never forget is the Iguazu National Park. It is said to be declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, in 1984 and 1986, according to Wikipedia. The place was really breathtaking. I love the GIANT trees!! WOW!! The highest was 40 meters tall!! :)

Also, the Iguazu falls is really amazing although it is a bit scary for it is about a 50 to 80 meter free-fall. Nature lovers should visit this place. Including me!

My Bedroom!

Posted by clariceg on Saturday, January 16, 2010 , under , , | comments (0)

Bedroom is the place where we lay ourselves, and sleep. It is where we do things we can't just do anywhere. For me, it's my personal place. Only me can go to (and also my family and friends). After a tiring day, I would lay and sleep. So it is important to keep the room clean. The room should be well painted. It should also have complete set of things like bed, pillows, table, mirror, cabinet, etc. It must also have a bathroom. I can say that my bedroom is the best!

Our house is just a house. No swimming pool. I hope that someday, I will have enough money to rebuild and renovate it. I will turn it into
a beach house. Wow.

A walk from home

Posted by clariceg on Saturday, January 9, 2010 , under , , | comments (0)

The beach house I was dreaming about is still a dream. Wow. I told my grandparents about this dream. They laughed at me. I don't know why. Anyway, every afternoon, 5pm, my grandparents always take a walk at the park. One time, when I saw them walking an idea suddenly pop out of my mind: Why not bring them somewhere near the beach and let them take a walk along the shore of the beach?! I know they will like it. And I know, I'll enjoy watching them walk while holding hands together. :)

It's like a fairy tale story right? Like castles, and happy ending, right?

Aftermath

Since I was a kid, my memory of a vacation often reflects on the beach, its white sand and its turquoise water. It is fun on the beach. I actually feel free when I am at the beach. But somehow, as an adult, It is normal to ask for something new, right?! I do not want to have ALL of my vacation at a beach. Very redundant making it not enjoyable. Sometimes, it is much better to try something new.

So, this came in to my idea: Why not hike on mountains?! I heard there is one on Indonesia where it is not too tall and not too hot to climb. I also heard the view on top of the mountain is great! It wouldn't be as relaxing as when you're at the beach but surely it will be fun too... It will be very adventurous. :)

Something Hot!

Since I was young, my parents often bring me to a lot of different places. It was really fun and I love it! Last year, they brought me to Shanghai,China. It was my first time there and I had a really great time. There are lots of beautiful places to visit there.

We went to Yuyuan garden, Xian Tian Di and Shanghai museum. We also visited the historical Jade Buddha temple, a place that is really peaceful, and offered our prayers. At night, we went to their very popular market, the Nanjing Road. Shopping at that place has never been that good! :) At the east start of the Nanjing road is the Bund, a famous waterfront and regarded as the symbol of Shanghai for hundreds of years. It was really nice there at night for they have light shows. I enjoyed the wonderful places. I was really tired that time so I asked them to go home. As we go to bed, mom told me a story, my favorite fairy tale and then I fell asleep, snoring loudly.

What a wonderful experience! I'll definitely go back to that place soon. :)
